Before getting your hands on the driving license, one has to know about driving license procedure. Where to go and when to reach are the important things that we should know in other to get our work done quickly.
The first question that arises is how to process for two-wheeler driving license in Nepal?
Before you begin with the process for obtaining the license, build the self-confidence of riding motorbike or scooter first.
The steps to be followed then are:
Visit the office or submit the application form online
Once you are confident enough that you can pass the test and trial, you can visit the official website at http://www.dotm.gov.np/ or follow the link: http://202.45.144.104/Nepal_DLReg/homepage_ to fill in the application form of driving license.
Applicants can submit the application online and check the written exam date. Once the application is submitted, the system will provide a unique reference number and other necessary details, which should be produced while sitting for written exam on a date prescribed by the Transport Management Office.
Sometimes, the server of the online application form may breakdown. At such times, you will have to fill in the form and go to the Yatayat Karyalaya to submit the forms.
Appear for the eye-test
Meanwhile, we need to appear for an eye-test for color blindness where we will be shown 4-5 cards with dotted colored numbers. We need to say the number written on the cards.
Once the eye-test is verified, we go to counter number 7 to pay the Rajaswa.
Appear for the written test
- On the day of written test, we need to reach the Yatayat Karyalaya early in the morning at 6:00 a.m.
- The test can be appeared in either of the language- English or Nepali.
- The books for sample questions are also available for purchase nearby.
- However, the basic questions involve the rules to be followed while riding, and things to do at the time of emergency.
- The result will be published at 6:00 p.m. on the same day.
- If you pass, you need to arrive at the Trolly Bus Station at Baneshwor early in the morning at 7:00 a.m. the next day for trial.
Give the trial
- You can also try a dummy-trial version in the nearby areas. There are people standing in the Trolly Bus Station who are willing to take you there by charging a little number of rupees.
- At the trial, you need to get on the line where you need to give the final test. When your turn comes, you will be given a bike/scooter.Before you take the trial, make sure you lock the helmet strap, check mirrors, headlight, indicators and brake of the bike.
The trial involves:
- a basic 8 path, which needs to be crossed.
- Once the 8 is completed, a straight lane comes which needs to be climbed on
- wait for the red-light to turn green and then take a left turn by turning on the left indicator.
- You will reach a slope where you need to climb up, brake and then get down.
- Finally, you need to get over the speed breakers in order to complete the trial.
If you pass, you will be declared right away. The police-men in duty will hand you the card signed. After 7 days, you need to visit Yatayat Karyala and go to room 2 to pay Nrs. 1500 Rajaswa. However, if you fail, you have the allowance to appear for the trial three times within 90 days if you have passed the written test.
Collect your driving license card
After a period of 30 days, you can re-visit the Yatayat Karyalaya to receive your Smart Driving License Card.
Make sure, you practice enough in driving training centers and do not ignore any part of the standard design. Read the driving book and get all your documents ready (two pass port sized photo, photocopy of citizenship).
